You don't *have* to install it that way. The runtime is just the original supported method. The instructions indicate you can also install via Homebrew: https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Download#MacOS-Users brew install tdsmith/ham/chirp Tom KD7LXL
