I had noticed this as well. The fix was to use a similar model, the
Jetstream JT270MH. This would read and write from/to the radio, but
preserved the memory banks and other settings.
Try reading from the radio with chirp set to the JT270MH

early last year i had a py module to load first, this does give me the
banks but its bit unreliable. one issue there is when i save the read
data to chirp img, when i reopen it, its for a diferent radio header.
