I will let the more seasoned devs chime in but chirp isn't dead! Only Python2 
:( Chirp is cross platform so the same code works on Linux, Mac and Windows. I 
know Dan was working on deprecating PyGtk
in favor of WxWidgets and there are at least 2 active contributions that I know 
of (1 driver improvement and 1 new driver) maybe more I'm not aware of.

I believe that Dan's WxWidgets work is the prelude to getting Chirp fully 
supported on python 3 support, but I don't know all of the ins-and-outs of the 
code base.
