Thanks to all who assisted. Knowing that taking multiple paths through the
terminal window might be a bit much for my meager abilities, I found a GUI
approach, and added the repository advised on the website in the "software
sources" tool, then used the synaptic package manager to install and (a few
days later) update. This is all in Linux Mint 20.1.
I may see what update options are available to me in Mint's regular software
manager, as my way isn't exactly seamless, but it does work.
