I tried to send this notice out yesterday, but apparently the message got truncated. Therefore I am repeating it now: The Guide to Chodosh stated that several brands of barley, made by the same company, have Chodosh packing dates starting on Nov 1. We were just advised that the actual Chodosh packing date was much earlier, starting Sept 25!! This applies to the following brands of barley: Benco, Jack Rabbit, Pathmark, Peak, Tender Cook, and Trinidad. These barleys are packed in two locations. The code on the bag is a date. If the date has the letter "L" following it, then the date is 14 months after packing (Chodosh code Nov 25, 2001). If there is no letter L, then the date is 12 months after packing. Please note that Vitarroz barley is still not recommended because of lack of information. Also a reminder: we sent out a notice earlier this week, that the Chodosh date for Goya barley is earlier than printed in the Guide, it is now Oct 16, code 029000 (0=not important, 290=day of year, 00=year.)
