Issue 876: Find box should prepopulate the text field with what is
highlighted or previous searches
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=876
Comment #7 by [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Since issue 2220 describes the original complaint better (includes
reproduction
steps), I am going to morph this bug into keeping track of what we should
pre-
populate the search box with when it comes up for the first time in a new
tab.
We should probably populate it with the word(s) that are currently
highlighted on the
page. If nothing is highlighted, we should use what the user searched for
last in
that same tab. If no previous search exists for that tab, we should
populate it with
what was searched for in the parent tab (or possibly what was searched for
in the
last tab - parent or not) and if still nothing is available, we should
populate it
with "Type here to search" in gray text that disappears as soon as you
click on the
box.
