Issue 2293: Chrome cannot save to VMware Workstation shared folders

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Share a R/W folder from VMware Workstation to the guest Windows XP
running Chrome ; map the network share \\.host\Shared Folders in the guest
2. Check you can write files with Explorer / other browsers
3. Try to download any kind of file from Chrome to the mapped folder
What is the expected result?
File should be written and accessible
What happens instead?
Nothing is written although in the Chrome UI appears to have worked
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
Same behavior has been seen with Google Picasa. No other applications are
misbehaving on the system (and there are lots of them).
Host OS: Ubuntu Hardy 8.01.1
Host kernel: Linux 2.6.24-19-generic
Guest OS: Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2
VMware Workstation 6.0.4 build-93057
