Comment #2 by lang.support: If it is in the middle of a file, it isn't a BOM, it is U+FEFF For backwards compatibility . There is no reason for ZERO WIDTH NON-BREAKING SPACE to appear in a file, since U+2060 WORD JOINER should be used instead of U+FEFF.
