Comment #4 by megazzt: If anyone else has this problem, I would recommend them capturing a full dump of the TCP stream of a working browser request for the login screen, and Chrome's. Then it would be possible to figure out why it is happening by comparing the two (and also some experimentation using PuTTy, etc).
