Confirmed same behavior in Safari, this appears to be a WebKit issue.
Added a reduced test case (readonly_test.html):
1.) Click on the text area with "The cat was ..."
2.) Press CTRL+A (or select all)
3.) Notice the whole page (both text areas) are selected
