I think the problem is something else... Chrome has a neat feature where it indicates that a control has the focus by surrounding it with an orange border. It seems that if I click (with the mouse) on a dropdown list to open it, it doesn't retain the focus. Only if I click it again, which will close the dropdown list, does it get the orange border. Furthermore. If it HAS the focus / orange border, the numeric keypad does work. If it doesn't have the focus (but the dropdown list is open), only the numbers on top of QWERTY works, but not the numeric keypad.
