As you say. Thanks for reply. Just one note, I started experiencing these hardware failures only when I started using Chrome. I'm running Dell Latitude D610 with latest driver pack from Dell on Windows XP SP3 with all updates in-place. I agree that if the bug cannot be reproduced you can't easily fix it. So guess I'll stay with FF for now :-) P.S.
