It would make sense that the memory would double upon duplication, you are  
running 2
of the same website.
Upon closing, some of my tabs actually decreased.  Which website were you  
using?  I
tested it with the current tabs I have open:
Hotmail 7,400K-->5,752K
CNN: 18,468K --> 21,084K
I have Gmail open as well, however, the memory for Gmail I have found is  
constantly
fluctuating due to the constant reloads the website does, checking for new
messages...
