Peter, does "no idea" mean you don't know why does it happen or you don't experience the issue? it seems to be one of the common visual "frustrations" with Chrome. As I understand, Chrome doesn't show the page until it is fully rendered; while it is being rendered, the viewer sees the white page, which might take long (at least visible) time.
