New issue 5220 by jean.f.ackerman: Bookmark Manager and bookmark
timestamps, sort, and more...
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=5220

Chrome Version       : 0.4.154.31
URLs (if applicable) : (see below for details concerning Bookmark Manager)
Other browsers tested: Not Applicable
   Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 3: Not Applicable
     Firefox 3: Not Applicable
          IE 7: Not Applicable

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create one or more bookmarks
2. Open Bookmark Manager
3. PROBLEM: there are no timestamps listed for bookmarks shown in the
Bookmark Manager and timestamps are a very important part of user bookmark
management
4. PROBLEM: if you drag one of the bookmarks to your Desktop (or another
Windows folder), the timestamp of the dragged shortcut is UNKNOWN (Windows
XP will give it the current time; to see that the timestamp is UNKNOWN try
dragging the bookmark to the Desktop a second time and look at the
information Windows XP provides when it asks if you want to overwrite the
Desktop bookmark)
5. PROBLEM: if you CTRL-select MULTIPLE bookmarks in the Bookmark Manager
and try to drag them as a group to your Desktop (or another Windows
folder), you cannot; it appears dragging only one bookmark at a time is
allowed; it would be very useful to be able to drag out a group of selected
bookmarks.

What is the expected result?

Timestamps are a very important part of user bookmark management and should
be shown in the Bookmark Manager and kept when Bookmarks are dragged to the
Desktop or other locations (e.g. Windows Desktop folder, Windows Favorite
folder, etc.)

What happens instead?

Timestamps are not shown and not associated with bookmarks in the Bookmark
Manager.

Please provide any additional information below.

The Bookmark file in "Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks" includes a
field value "date_added" for each bookmark which appears to provide usable
timestamp information, e.g.:

             }, {
                "date_added": "12873094880667375",
                "name": "Microsoft Adds Vista SP2 Beta on Windows Update -
CIO.com - Business Technology Leadership",
                "type": "url",
                "url":
"http://www.cio.com/article/468920/Microsoft_Adds_Vista_SP_Beta_on_Windows_
Update"
             }, {

It seems that it would be straightforward to include a column of timestamp
information in the Bookmark Manager and to allow correct timestamps to
transfer when bookmarks are dragged [copied] from the Bookmark Manager to
Windows folders.

It will also be very desirable to be able to SORT bookmarks in the Bookmark
Manager by timestamp, newest to oldest, or oldest to newest, by clicking
the header of a newly added "Date/Time" column.

Further, it will be very desirable to sort ALL bookmarks in the Bookmark
Manager by timestamp, as well as bookmarks in individual bookmark folders.
Perhaps in the left hand side of the Bookmark Manager, under the icons of
Bookmark folders, "Recently Added" icon, and "Search" icon, a NEW
selectable "All Bookmarks" icon could be added which would list ALL
bookmarks on the right side.

Further, if you CTRL-select MULTIPLE bookmarks in the Bookmark Manager and
try to drag them as a group to your Desktop (or another Windows folder),
you cannot; it appears dragging only one bookmark at a time is allowed; it
would be very useful to be able to drag out a group of selected bookmarks.
