The issue is caused by http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/39228, which is an
attempt to
account for CachedResource overhead, which is a bit Safari-specific at the
moment.
The performance degradation is actually a speed/memory trade-off, albeit
slightly
unfair. I am working on a patch upstream and will also experiment with it
on our
tree. Weee!
