Comment #16 on issue 1565 by [email protected]: Don't make GoogleUpdate
always-resident
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1565

GoogleUpdate.exe is the WORST part of the browser and reason enough for
many to
refuse to use this otherwise fine browser. I simply HATE googleupdate and
it's such a
pain to get rid of, yet keeps coming back. I removed it from scheduled
tasks, deleted
it from startup folder, and finally had to hack the registry entries to
stop this
crap. If it comes back to life, I will just uninstall the browser
permanently!

It's very sad that Google has created this VIRUS that infects our
computers. The
current way virtually guarantees that any professional will disable
googleupdate and
therefore defeat the purpose for which I assume it was intended.

Google: please learn how to manage this simple feature correctly. See
Firefox for
hints. Heck, for that matter you can even see MSIE for a better way :-)
