I noticed the same problem on Chrome 2.0.156.1 when I was behind corporate NTLM proxy, Java 1.6 update 11 was stared but it wasn't able to find classes. Other browsers [FF 3.1, IE 7, Opera 9.63 and Flock 2] was able to find those classes.
