I use Chromium at work and I only have to visit a site and then take a look  
into the
Edit search engines window. Chromium automatically adds search strings for  
visited
sites.

For example, I needed to search the English Wiktionary, so I just visited  
the site,
then I found the search string in the search engine edit window. I replaced  
the
search keyword with something shorter, and that was it, I could now search  
the site
directly from the address bar.

I believe the feature the bug reporter is requesting is already there.
