phistuck: I created issue 6697 to track your original bug. Having "waiting for cache" while waiting for the interstitial page is sort of the expected behavior and it has not been fixed. As you pointed out, everything goes back to normal after making a selection on the interstitial page. This issue is tracking an unrecoverable error (ok, recoverable by restarting the application) that prevent access to a random page. As mentioned in comment 35, the problem should be fixed ONLY on the dev channel.
