Dragging an image to the desktop is a separate issue that exercises a different code path. I've filed a bug on that (http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail? id=6912) and have a fix for it that I'll submit shortly. For this "Save Page" bug, it turns out that having a '.' character in the title of the web page exposes an error in our file naming code.
