Unfortunately, the workaround proposed in comment 13 does not work. I've  
updated the
testcase I provided at http://www.jounne.com/pushlettest.htm in a way that  
it sends
moren then 256 bytes in the first chunk. Also the counter now counts from 0  
to
100000, which should overcome any caching. But Chromium stays dead, the
XMLHttpRequest never ever gives any data at readyState 3.
I think this is an evidence that the problem is not related to caching.  
Since we now
have a defect without workaround, I propose to think it over a second time.
