Comment #3 on issue 7763 by danielgindi: RTL: Problems on page level... (scrollbar position, and truncation) http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7763
The bigger problem than scrollbars is the one with the TRUNCATION of the content. which occurs in the wrong direction. And I DO think that the scrollbar should be placed according to the content (body dir tag or head), and not by desktop. There is a simple reason: The WEB is a international, world wide, multilingual network. Some pages come in chinese, some in english, some in hebrew. When you enter a chinese area, it is normal to expect the fonts to be chinese, and when its english, its normal to expect the page to be from left to right, fonts in english, and scrollbar on the right, And the same in Hebrew or Arabic too! The flow of the RTL interface should be continued with aligning the scrollbars correctly. It does not matter whether the desktop is LTR or RTL, It DOES matter whether the page is intended to be read RTL! And if you are aware of the fact that on of Chrome's goals is to provide a network based platform, not restricted or defined by the operating system, then it makes even more sense. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
