New issue 8358 by vleeshue: New feature request: full page zoom to browser
width
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8358

Chrome Version : 2.0.166.1
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 3: FAIL
     Firefox 3: FAIL
          IE 7: FAIL

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use full page zoom to zoom out until there is no horizontal browser
scrollbar.
2. Use full page zoom to zoom in incrementally until there is a horizontal
browser scrollbar.
3. Use full page zoom to zoom out one step to attain the "most zoomed in"
state without a horizontal browser scrollbar.

What is the expected result?
Achieving the "most zoomed in" state in one step.

What happens instead?
The above method works, but can be very tedious. Also, the "most zoomed
in" state depends/varies with web page content.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
I find myself manually setting pages to the "most zoomed in state" very
often, especially when viewing/presenting media on large displays, such as
projectors and televisions. Automating this process with a single step
would be extremely useful. Furthermore, it leverages the already existing
full page zoom feature and doesn't break page flow like Opera's "fit to
width" feature. Regarding implementation, a quick approach would be to
iteratively execute the above steps while checking for the existence of a
horizontal browser scrollbar. The ideal implementation, off the top of my
head, is to calculate the desired full page zoom factor from the web page
content and zoom directly to the calculated zoom factor. Regarding
usability, another ctrl+<key> shortcut can be used to fit with the pre-
existing ctrl+"+" and ctrl+"-" shortcuts for full page zoom in and full
page zoom out respectively. Frankly, I'd be happy having one-step "most
zoomed in" state capability at all.

Sorry about placing this feature request as a bug report. I wasn't sure
what the best way to submit a feature request was.
