Comment #2 on issue 8743 by krtulmay: Chrome "Clear browsing data..." dialog is confusing and inefficient http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8743
I totally disagree with [email protected]. In fact, users *MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD* get an understanding to know the difference between cache, cookies, password store, download list, and understand the implications of a timeframe choice. It is perfectly fine to design the UI that helps common-case scenarios, but certainly do *not* limit the UI to the common-case only (as is already overdone in the rest of Chrome's overly simple and overly restrictive UI and lack of options). Be sure to also allow the current fine-grained full clearing list of choices to users who wish to make these choices. Remember, although you can try to make Chrome "do what users mean", it may only be successful for a majority of users, but you know that you are deliberately *not* providing the choices for those users who which to do otherwise. Again, you must provide the options/choices/alternatives for those users where Chrome is unable to "do the right thing" for them. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
