New issue 8916 by marco.barentsz: content encoding problem behind company
proxies
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=8916
Chrome Version : <REPLACE this with your version. Ex: 2.0.169.1>
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 3:
Firefox 3: OK
IE 7: OK
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start chrome (chromium?)
1. goto http://www.google.com
2. enter search criteria and press google search
3. i receive the search results
4. type in another search criteria and press google search
5. i get an error page from the company proxy that there is a problem with
the content encoding
6. from this point onwards all searches fail (using google search that is)
What is the expected result?
get search results
What happens instead?
Content Transformation Error (transformation_error)
Crgeh-bc-01
Proxy cannot apply content transformation.
This could be caused by a misconfiguration, or possibly a response with an
unknown content encoding.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
When I switch to other search engines using chrome (live seach, yahoo, etc)
all works fine. It seems that chromium 2.0 in combination with our company
proxies and the google search engine is a no go and produces the content
encoding problem. When the problem occurs it will never work again. You
will need to close Chrome and then you can use the google search just 1
time before all consecutive searches using google search will fail
miserably with the content encoding error from our company proxies.
When I bypass the company proxies (direct internet) I have no problem at
all using the google search engine in chrome.
Not really sure if the problem is related to
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=7679
Anyway if that WAS fixed then it is still not working for my environment
using the company proxies.
I have the problem with both the latest chrome BETA as well as the latest
DEV version (2.0.170.0).
