I have the same problem. It happens many times, mainly (but not only) when I close a Gmail tab. In fact, almost each time I close a Gmail tab... The already opened tabs hang, and if there are tabs that I opened before but didn't view their content yet - they stay blank when I switch to them, until Chrome is recovered (1-2 minutes, sometimes more). While Chrome is frozen, its behavior is as follows: 1. Chrome doesn't respond to keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl-t, Ctrl-w). 2. It is possible to open a new tab by clicking on the "+" next to the last opened tab, but the "New Tab" page is a blank (frozen) page. 3. It is possible to close a tab by clicking on the tab's "x", but it takes 1-2 seconds to that tab to disappear. 4. The tab that its closing initiated the hang can't be closed until the browser recovers. 5. The browser's window can't be closed. 6. If I open Chrome's task manager while the browser is frozen, then I can see all the opened tabs - but not the currently running plugins (Gears, Flash, etc.). A few seconds later, the plugins' processes are shown in Chrome's task manager and then the browser recovers (after a second or two). 7. Incognito mode is affected as well.
