Comment #6 on issue 9501 by rcdailey: Feature Request: Recursive bookmark sorting http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=9501
There is currently no "undo" feature for the existing non-recursive sort, right? So that's the same kind of "painful", but at a lesser scale. Undo sounds like a great idea, I'd have no objections to this being done as well if you feel up to the work. Thanks for reopening the issue and being so agreeable on this topic. It's nice to know there's already a preference for this behavior! This is a bit of a stretch, but perhaps you can have a "change log" of bookmark modifications. For example, just like version control, you can view a sort of "modification log" for bookmark changes. This not only gives you the ability to undo a recursive sort, but also allows you to undo any change you've made regardless of what it is. Call it a persistent undo log. I can agree that in most typical cases, users will not need this much complexity. I simply suggest it because I've seen this implemented before and it worked quite well. Foxmarks (Now known as Xmarks) uses a web-based bookmark backup solution. Their web- based bookmark viewer has a log of all modifications made to your bookmarks and also allows you to diff them. It's a bit complex for normal users, but for power users it's quite a useful feature. I don't expect this to be implemented in Chrome, but it's a useful idea that I thought I'd bring up since you mentioned Undo. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
