Comment #23 on issue 990 by dan198792: Throbber makes it appear that Meebo
never completely loads
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=990

A more serious problem, however, when the HTTP version is run as an app.
On Vista
x64 SP1 with Aero (probably other setups as well), since the throbber is
also the
favicon/app icon that shows up on the taskbar, it appears to be changing
too quickly
for Windows to keep up. The titles of every task bar item are then
frozen. For
instance, if I had a Windows Explorer window open to "C:\Users", open
http://www.meebo.com as an app, then browse to,
say, "C:\Users\me\Documents", the
title bar still says "Users". Once I close that Chrome window (or even
minimize it
to the "notification area" with e.g. PowerMenu), the titles update to the
proper
values. This happens with all apps, even other Chrome windows if I change
tab.

Occasionally, the titles will update if I minimize and restore the Chrome
app window,
but that's not terribly helpful.

The HTTPS solution is a valid workaround in this case, but perhaps the app
and
(and/or tab) icon should simply be the favicon, rather than the
throbberthrobber
combo. This is how, for instance, Firefox's and IE's tab icon works.
Firefox's
"throbber" indicates that it's still loading as well.

I don't know if this should be a different bug. It's a different effect,
but a
result of the same behavior.
