Comment #7 on issue 2723 by [email protected]: DNS data is not refreshed on
Ctrl+F5
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=2723
I don't think it is necessary to have "control-f5" do a load of HTML
without using
cached files (i.e., it was supposed to do a network GET, even if the cache
is
current, in FireFox and older Netscape browsers).
Per suggestion with Mbelshe, it would be really nice to detect a "network
transition"
and help the OS by actively doing the equivalent of the suggested "ipconfig
/flushdns." That would tend to make ordinary F5 work (to reload the page).
This bug (or a variant) is reportedly VERY common for folks who start up
their
system, and then (because chrome is too darn fast to start) get a "page not
found"
for their home page. Worse yet, the fast fetch leaves DNS entries of "not
found" for
about 120 seconds (see
http://www.itsyourip.com/dns/dns-cache-in-windows-registry/
for details). This makes it impossible to reach their home page (oops).
I think the nice user answer (proposed by Mbelshe) is to watch for
a "network
transition" and then automatically flush the DNS cache (which IMO, the OS
should have
done :-/ ).
Carlos agreed to have a look at this, so I'm assigning it over.
