Comment #8 on issue 11614 by cmroddy: Request: allow users to toggle whether single-click in location bar selects all http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=11614
On Linux, a single click automatically selecting all contents in the URL entry field is quite annoying. If I am coming in with the mouse cursor, it is because I want to select only part of the URL. If I want the whole thing, I'll just press Ctrl+L or I will double-click. On Linux, this behavior should be considered a bug. I don't need to configure it. I just want it to behave the same as other applications: - A single click places the text entry cursor under the mouse and does not clobber the primary selection - A double click selects the entire contents of the URL, replacing the primary selection - Ctrl+L focuses the URL entry field and selects the entire contents, replacing the primary selection > no way to position the cursor without selecting any text. This is very important. It means that under no circumstance whatsoever can I come into the omnibar and then paste the contents of the primary selection. Focusing the omnibar always destroys the contents of the primary selection. This is fine on Windows (and OS X?) but does not work for Linux. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
