Comment #19 on issue 3041 by [email protected]: DNS pre-fetching causes frequent internet loss http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=3041
Google Chrome version 2.x has been diagnosed as often inducing more DNS resolutions than Google Chrome version 1.x, many of these resolutions are above and beyond what is done for DNS pre-resolution. A recent change (now on the tip-of-tree) and in the Google Chrome version 3.x (currently the "dev" channel builds) should cause chromium to have significantly fewer DNS resoluions than even version 1.x. It is difficult to diagnose the impact of these DNS resolutions on external hardware, but I'm hopeful that the tip-of-tree fix will be helpful. If you're feeling more adventurous, you might consider enrolling in the developer channel for Google Chrome, and see if the problem is fixed, or diminished.
