Comment #3 on issue 2515 by [email protected]: Implement breakpad
trapping when the process dies due to heap corruption
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=2515
Slightly moving off topic;
Actually, these are probably sent to WER. Maybe it's time to leverage the
new WER functionality in Vista
and Windows 7 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb513640.aspx)?
- WerRegisterRuntimeExceptionModule()
- WerRegisterMemoryBlock() or WerRegisterFile()
This way, we could save basic anonymous information when it is trapped by
WER instead of breakpad. Any
opinion on the usefulness of this? I'm thinking specifically about
hard-to-reproduce bugs where we could
programmatically "warn" the client in advance to send more information when
the computer is flaky (let's
say through UMA) and it isn't being trapped with breakpad.
