Comment #42 on issue 1565 by [email protected]: Don't make GoogleUpdate
always-resident
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1565
Is GoogleUpdate.exe running all the time or does a new process get launched
once per
minute? If it is the former, please check that you have Google Update
1.2.183.7
installed. You can do so by looking at the pv registry value in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\Clients\{430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-
91526481799D} and/or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Google\Update\Clients\{430FD4D0-
B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D}.
As noted in the blog post
(http://google-opensource.blogspot.com/2009/07/google-
update-regularly-scheduled.html), there are a small number of cases where
GoogleUpdate.exe will continue to run because one of the launch mechanisms
is not
working.
If you are interested in the details, see
