progame, what is your startup option set to? You can see it by clicking wrench -> Options and looking at "On startup". The next time this happens before you restart Chrome could you send me a copy of your Preferences file? It should be at a path like: c:\Documents and Settings\USERID\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ . Where USERID is your login. If you're worried about sending me the whole file, I just need to know the contents of the string right next to exited_cleanly in that file.
