New issue 17211 by [email protected]: eBay asks for Zip Code after every
login
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=17211

Chrome Version : 3.0.193.1 (Official Build 20697)
URLs (if applicable) : http://shop.ebay.com/items/?
_nkw=some+item&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=some%2Bitem&_osacat=

Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 4:
   Firefox 3.x: OK
          IE 7: OK
          IE 8: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Login and do a search on eBay for "some item" or follow this link
http://shop.ebay.com/items/?
_nkw=some+item&_sacat=0&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=some%2Bitem&_osacat=

2. On the right side by "Sort by" change it to "Price + Shipping: Lowest
First" You will be prompted for a zip code to calculate the shipping.
3. Log out, Log back in, repeat the search, repeat the Sort by and you will
be prompted again

What is the expected result?
You should not be re-prompted for the zip code because eBay is supposed to
read this information from you profile / a cookie. Apparently, Chrome isn't
storing cookies as it "should" according to eBay.

What happens instead?
Zip code prompt reappears even though it shouldn't.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

eBay sent me this email concerning the issue:

from your account, I’ve found that the Zip Code is coming up on
your account as soon as you are logged in to your account. However, as
you are being logged out from your account, you are being asked for the
ZIP Code information again to get the item sorted on search results
page.

Please know we have received several reports with this problems,
however, the actual problems in not with the site is not saving your ZIP
Code but with the browser as your browser is ending the session.
Actually, the feature is made in such a way that it fetches the ZIP Code
from your account information only. However, you can resolve the matter
by enabling cookies on your browser as this will ensure that your login
session will be contained when you are redirected to the next page.

To enable cookies in Safari, perform the following steps:

1. From the Safari menu, click Preferences.
2. From the Security dialog box, from Accept Cookies, click to select
Always.
3. Click Close.

Further, if you are still facing problems while searching for the items
using your browser, I would suggest you to use alternate browser and try
again. It may be an issue with the browser that you are using.

---

They assumed I was on Safari :P
And yes, my cookies are enabled :P
Because this isn't a problem on other browsers, eBay is right in saying
it's a chrome issue.
