Comment #5 on issue 12331 by [email protected]: Dns Prefetching is disabled
(sometimes).
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=12331
I've been running some tests to optimize the settings in the DNS prefetch
system. As
a result, with some probability, DNS prefetching may be disabled (on a
per-run
basis). On the dev channel, I've put this probabability as high as 10%.
On stable
channel and beta channel builds, I've typically held the disabling to no
more than 1%
probability.
There are reportedly some users that have VERY expensive DNS resolutions.
We're
currently tuning Chromium to automatically detect such problems
(delays/congestion),
and back off in their use of DNS pre-resolution. As a result, we needed to
contrast
runs with and without such pre-resolution.
Hope the info helps,
Jim
