New issue 17713 by [email protected]: (Some) large images are displayed
badly while loading
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=17713

Chrome Version : 3.0.195.1 (Official Build 21222)
URLs (if applicable) : (attention: 30 MB jpeg)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/50/Swimming_hole.jpg
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 4: not tested
Firefox 3.x: tested 3.5, does not use a good resizing algorithm
          IE 7: not tested
IE 8: tested, does not display resized version while loading

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the above URL.

What is the expected result?
The image is loadin, and while it's loading, the high-quality resizing
algorithm should be applied to the part of the image that is already
loaded.

What happens instead?
While the image is loading, you see the same (or similar, depends on the
window size) color-aliasing effects that you see in Firefox 3.5. Ohne when
the file is loaded completely, high-quality resizing is started and a few
seconds later, the high-quality resized picture is visible.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
If this is by design: There is the proposition of moving the resizing to a
background thread in Issue 11447. If this will be ever worked on, on could
perhaps combine image loading and resizing which would decrease time until
the complete resized image is displayed in high quality.
