I'd recommend trying this out again. We've made a lot of fixes in our
omnibox support
over the last month.
Remember that Chromium (blue logo) does not support MP3, and that it should
open with
your operating system's default handler (QuickTime, Windows Media, or
download).
Official Chrome builds should support MP3 and entering an MP3 URL in the
omnibox should
play with the <audio> tag.
