URLs (if applicable) : Any URL with alt-texted images.  www.xkcd.com is
one.
Other browsers tested:
   Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
      Safari 4: OK
   Firefox 3.x: OK
          IE 7: OK
          IE 8: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Mouseover an image with alt-text.

What is the expected result?
View the alt-text.

What happens instead?
The alt-text is surrounded by squares:

◻ALT-Text◻
Note that the square used in this example may not be the exact square that
is rendered.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
Tested on Windows XP X64.  The bug seems to have appeared with 3.0.195.x.
The bug does not exist on the linux version (also 3.0.195.x), and on the
mac version, alt text simply does not appear on mouse-over)
