Thank you for suggesting a manual vaccum.  Some files only saved a little  
(~20MB) but
some files were almost truncated to nothing (36kB).  I vacuumed every file  
and about
580MB of space was removed from "Histroy*" files!  I vacuumed the  
Thumbnails and
saved another 50MB.  Perhaps Chrome should use the auto_vacuum pragma?  The  
remaining
history files still consume a largish 290MB, but that's worlds better than  
the
previous 800MB.

@rvargas:
Thank you for your work on issue 16740.  With it fixed in the most recent  
dev build,
my cache folder is down to ~400MB.  That's a nice improvement over my  
original 700MB.

It could be my imagination, but startup and (especially) shutdown seem  
_much_
quicker.
