Comment #15 on issue 16794 by jarom.loveridge: ESPN360/Move Media Player
Crash.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=16794

The Move Media Player is not at present compatible with 64-bit operating
systems due to the lack of a 64-bit
version of the codec it uses, VP7. On2 has indicated they will have a
64-bit capable version later this year,
September if the initial estimates are accurate.

The most likely reason people are experiencing crashes on ESPN360 with the
Move Player is due to ESPN's use
of Flash overlays on the Move player which requires some IPC magic to work.
I have not experienced issues
with Safari or Firefox related to this interaction but I have had very
little success with Chrome and Flash
overlays. Due to the issues with Flash overlays with the Move Player in
Chrome the plan was for ESPN to not
allow Chrome users and to require one of the other browsers.

If users are interested ABC's newly redesigned site was designed to use the
7.15 player which is the first
version of the Move Player that allowed any support for Chrome. Their new
site is at: http://vp2.abc.com/.
Fox also uses the new version of the Move Media player.

For those of you wanting to use Chrome on other sites that still reference
old player deployments, pre 7.15, it
would require redirecting requests for the movenetworks.js file to a
version that supports Chrome. If you are
interested in more information on this topic I can provide it.
