Many versions of fontconfig have a bug which means that filtering  
non-bitmap fonts
doesn't do anything. Intrepid might be recent enough that it's fixed.  
However, it will
still allow scalable fonts which have bitmap strikes included for certain  
sizes. We
could disable the bitmap strikes, but what about those people who are  
equally adamant
that scalable fonts are terrible?
