Ok in order to remove the error message from chrome://extensions/ go back and download the Classic theme from https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/index.html and then once installed go to chrome://extensions/ refresh, and scroll all the way down and click on the button to delete the default extension. restart chrome, and it will not show the error, but the classic theme extension can not be downloaded again, or Chrome will always crash, and won't open.
