Comment #20 on issue 11247 by [email protected]: windowed plugins are
janktastic
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=11247
I am not working on this anymore. I spent about a week and got a branch of
chrome
somewhat working (some artifacts) but fundamentally detached plugin windows
lag
randomly the scroll and move of the window. Specially if flash is busy
decoding video
and such.
In other words, the tradeoff is slight jankiness all the time versus the
current
state which is only janky if flash is not pumping messages often. From my
experiments, the current state is preferable.
Also to note, when flash hangs, you still get a portion of the screen
blocked with
the hung flash window. Yes you can change tabs and such but in practice a
large part
of the screen is unusable. Only sane path is to restart chrome, unless you
have two
monitors.
