Comment #5 on issue 18895 by nekohayo: inhibit power management when downloading http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=18895
Some thoughts, as a user, but you'll need to confirm with the actual devs (perhaps Richard Hughes): - No, I don't think your scenario will happen. AFAIK, the inhibitions are used to prevent "normal" automatic power saving features that are the result of "normal" session idling. I am presuming this is separate from the "critical" actions. - For the sake of the argument, it doesn't make much sense to me to download a huge file when you have 3% battery left anyway ;) but I see your point. Also, I just thought of something else that needs inhibition: html5 video content. That one needs idling inhibition (to prevent the screensaving features, and, in turn, other power management features, from kicking in). I can't count the amount of times I rolled my eyes and wiggled the mouse to prevent the screen from turning off when I was watching Flash youtube content. However, I can't update this bug's title and tags, and I'm not sure if this is something to be treated separately. Should I file a different bug about idle inhibition for html5 videos during playback? -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
