I was thinking a bit about this last night while falling asleep. Most users  
don't know that
you can type directly over a selection so they generally hit backspace to  
clear the
selection before typing a new one (I've watched many people do this over  
the years
during adhoc ui testing). It might be difficult to differentiate  
between "select all-
backspace-type new url" and "click-backspace to edit-type updated url".  
They both
involve very similar actions. Something to keep in mind during impl of the  
gathering.
