This is interesting; none of the CL's seem to touch relevant code, and the
slowdown is
only on the XP machines; the Vista, Linux, and Mac perf bots all show no
regression at
all. (The XP single core machine also shows a much less dramatic slowdown
than the
dual core).
The only thing that remotely looks like it might be relevant is
