Status: Unconfirmed Owner: ---- Labels: OS-Mac Area-Misc Pri-2 Type-Bug New issue 21196 by paradoxmo: Search/address box entry ending in .local should be considered address, not search http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=21196
Chrome Version : 4.0.207.0 (25570) URLs (if applicable) : OS version : 10.4.8 Behavior in Safari 3.x/4.x (if applicable): Behavior in Firefox 3.x (if applicable): both NA since they don't have a unified address bar Behavior in Chrome for Windows: What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Type a hostname ending in .local into the search/address box What is the expected result? Chromium should offer to pull up http://hostname.local by default Rationale: Bonjour/avahi conventions are increasingly used on all networks, not just networks with Macs, due to the popularity of iTunes and various pieces of Apple hardware. What happens instead? Chromium only offers to search "hostname.local" Suggestion for generalized fix: Consider entries ending in .local or any domain entries in /etc/resolv.conf to be real http addresses by default, not searches. -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
