It appears to have to do with rendering one of the applications that you can imbed on the home page. It seems to happen only when you view a home page as a logged-in user. On another page I noticed where someone attributed this to the ad that is displayed only at the bottom of the LinkedIn home page, not the public or full profile pages for example.
